Kaustav Majumdar/ ‘KOU’ is an Artist based in Germany, born 1987 in Bengal, India. KOU’s art has been subject to numerous accolades, and he has been commissioned for internationally acclaimed events like Venice Design Week, Amsterdam Pride, as well as for the cities of Berlin, Freiburg, Düsseldorf, Schwabach and Munich. Since 2014, KOU has actively contributed to projects like 1000 Drawing Berlin - exploring how everyday experiences become art.
In his work, KOU tackles subjects like climate change, gender equality, racism, classism and the emotional energy of life - expressing his perspective on reusable materials in modern, contemporary, impressionist and abstract styles.
KOU’s unique creations are often made with limited resources, combining upcycled materials like recycled paper, inks, and adding stains with wine or tea. His abstract collection, “Self & Soul”, was made with 100% reused materials.
